First off, the course is in good shape, minus piles of leaves on the greens. (It is fall, so sort of understood, but at least try and blow them off a little.) Played yesterday (Saturday). Had a tee time of 1:30. Course was completely overbooked, which is normal for a nice Saturday. However, the ranger was a complete a**. 4:30 rolls around, and he comes up telling everyone carts have to be in by 5. Even when we had daylight until 530. We were next to last group, with it stacked in front of us. On whole 17, 5pm, he comes up and refused to let anyone tee off. I can completely understand if it is dark, and everyone has multiple holes left, but with 4 groups stacked between holes 16-18, and the course overbooking, I believe the ranger should have took a chill pill, and allowed for 15 minutes to complete the course. We won't be going back.
Probably should be a one star. The course itself is just okay. Layout is crammed and lots of side by side fairways and tee boxes right next to greens. Gets hard to tell which hole you’re playing and no signs anywhere. The gps on carts is atrocious and really affects pace of play cutting out for no reason. Greens had good speed but absolutely covered in sand. Visibly more sand than grass in spots. Worse part for me was the workers. Mowers did not ever stop for any reason. A red mower mowed over my prov1x just off the fairway on 16. They mowed the middle of the fairways as you’re teeing off, now all around the greens while putting, right next to us on the tee box… very frustrating.
Very nice little Muni. The course is open enough that wayward shots arent always lost. Short enough for the average player to still have some scoring opportunities while allowing longer hitters to go for some of the greens off the tee. Only gripe is the lack of food options. Only having vending machine makes the turn pretty lackluster. Course itself is usually in pretty good shape. Has a few holes on the back side that can get really wet/soggy if it has rained much at all. Still enjoy my rounds here every time.
So to start off the course and greens aren't bad. The are well maintained and taken care of. Some of the holes do tend to overlap each other and you are shooting towards other players with no signage for the shape of the hole, which hole you're playing, par or distance from tee boxes to the flag. Now to the really bad and I may be overreacting. I am new to golf. This was my third time playing a course so it tends to take our teams a while to play through. We get to hole 10 and the park ranger comes up and said we're taking to long and we need to speed up. Myself being new to the game I felt like this was very rude and disruptive to us trying to play and get use to playing. I get that there are other players waiting on us because we're slower, but normally we let them play through so they don't have to keep waiting. From that time forward I was upset about being confronted about this and did horrible the rest of the game because of frustration. We completely skipped hole 12 because of him confronting us to help move a little quicker which we never should have had to do. I paid to play just like ever other player on the course and I should be able to take as much time as needed to have good time and play the course at my own pace. I would possibly never come back to this course to play again because of this issue and I will be sure to inform anyone who plays slower not to go there to play.
Great course for the price for sure. My only gripe was the carts have GPS and about anytime we got off the cart path the cart shut down. Did not seem to have clearly defined areas where you could or could not drive a cart. It would shut down in the fairway sometimes. It was annoying but not enough to stop me from going back. I eventually figured out you can drive the cart anywhere you wanted to in reverse
Every time I’ve played this course there is a ranger but somehow they let the most unacceptable stuff happen. Today there was a group in front of us with a clear fairway, green and tee box but they were standing there shotgunning beers. Then we made the turn and there were 12 people on the 10th. It’s not a nice course for the money and the people who work there are not interested in the experience the customer has. It’s by far the closest to me but I can pay $52 to get irritated by something else.
The staff are courteous and helpful.
The $27 walking fee is much too high.
The carts are a problem, especially if playing with older friends who dont get around well.
The greens used to be great, but this year they have bald spots. Hopefully the staff can get the greens back on track.
I played in May 2023. 18 holes + range balls for $50 on Saturday is hard to beat. Greens are decent (I've seen them even faster/better here), fairways and tees are decent too. Overall, short and open to swing away and have fun.
